BOOK REVIEW:

Love & Lemons
Every Day

By Jeanine Donofrio
I 💛 this book!
I can't even write an unbiased review about this book.  My love affair with Love & Lemons began in 2016 when I first saw it in an Anthropologie Store.  The original book, based on Jeanine's successful blog, was so drop dead gorgeous it stopped me in my tracks.  So beautiful, and so began my coveting of it.    How fortunate that so soon after, we are blessed with a next-level companion to it--equally gorgeous.

Love & Lemons Every Day is accessible to every level of cook.  The recipes are ones anyone can dive into and easily turn out a photo-worthy meal or snack. I cracked the spine and instantly wanted to cook everything in it.  I'm working my way through it now, so excited I have out of town visitors this weekend so I have an excuse to get fancy.
We as a community love plants.  Lots of us grow food.  It's such a reward for our efforts to end up with carrots, zucchini, beets or....lemons.  I grew up in a gardening family, so I know when we grow food, we invariably grow more than we can eat ourselves. Cookbooks that are plant-based, don't mean that to use them we need to be vegetarians, they are merely meant to be the best friends of those of us growing food.  Inspiration.  And when that inspiration is wrapped in a beautiful package like this book, the inspiration is exponential.  Jeanine sacrifices nothing by leaving out the meat (though there are plenty of plant-based protein recipes included).  In fact, meat or not, she amps up the flavors.
The author includes a list of her favorite kitchen tools that can be your sous chef when diving in to her recipes, so I went and found the to make it easy for you.  The list is below.
Kitchen Tools Shopping List

Good Chef's Knife
Maple Boos Cutting Board
12-inch Staub Cast Iron Fry Pan

Try just one recipe from the book and you'll be smitten.  I think I can actually promise that.
Happy Growing!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Jeanine started her Love & Lemons blog in 2011 and has since been featured in People, Oprah Magazine, Self, Shape, Mind Body Green, Saveur, Redbook, Food52, Refinery29, and more.

She and her husband, Jack, cook and photograph from their home in Chicago (recently relocated from Austin) while their two Shiba pups help clean up the kale stems that fall on the kitchen floor.

Because they are travel addicts, the recipes are often inspired by their travel experiences.

The New York Times said of her first cookbook:

"Happiness itself is tossed into every bowl."
