Aloe Vera / Medicinal Aloe - is a perennial succulent long known for its healing and soothing properties for burns. Indoors provide the very brightest light available. It must have well draining soil and thorough watering when the soil has become fairly dry, about 1-2 inches down (stick your finger in the pot to feel, that's about down to your first knuckle). Protect from frost. If growing in an area that receives freezing seasonal temperatures, overwinter indoors and move outside into full sun gradually as soon as the last danger of frost has passed. Place in shade for a couple of days and introduce to more sunlight over 7-10 days until it is in full sun, otherwise it will get sun scald. It will benefit tremendously by growing outdoors in the warmer frost free months. Just be sure to bring inside to the brightest location available before the first frost of autumn hits. Sometimes listed under the name Aloe barbadensis.
