Description

Flamingo flowers are evergreen tropical perennial plants with erect stems bearing large, lobed, glossy leaves. Brightly colored floral spathes in red, rose, pink, or white hues. The spathes last for 6 weeks on the plant and 4 weeks as cut flowers.Feed with a water soluble fertilizer following directions specified for flowering tropical plants. Indoor specimen need well draining, commercial potting soil along with high humidity and consistent temperatures above 65 F. Filtered light, regular watering and fertilization formulated for flowering house plants every four weeks during summer. Sections of stem above soil surface can be kept covered with moist sphagnum moss to prevent drying of aerial roots. All parts mildly upsetting if eaten, sap can irritate skin. Also toxic to cats and dogs, so keep away from pets and children.
