Bahiagrass is a coarse lawn grass native to Mexico and South America. It is sometimes recommended for areas of poor or neglected soils. It grows a thick mat from stolons and usually requires mowing at 2-3 inch height. Feed 2 to 4 times during the growing season and it responds well to fertilizer that also contain iron. It also has naturalized in warm parts of North America where it often colonizes lawns and other open spaces.
