Bulbous perennials with slender, basal leaves, solitary or clustered, usually yellow or white, sometimes green or partly red, orange or pink flowers consisting of a cup or trumpet surrounded by 6 spreading petals (unless doubled), at the tops of separate, leafless stems, usually in spring.Continue to maintain until their foliage yellows and dies back and they will return again next late winter or early spring. Their sap can be a skin irritant or allergen so wear protective gloves as a precaution when handling.
