Hong Kong orchid tree

Hong Kong orchid tree

Bauhinia x Blakeana

Description

One of the most beautiful trees in mild climates, with large, fragrant, pale pink, wine red or purple orchid-like flowers primarily from late winter-spring; use this 20-30 ft. tree en masse in an expansive area as a visual screen or plant a single specimen as a landscape focal point amidst other tropicals like Angel’s Trumpet, Plumeria, Hibiscus and Banana shrub. This is also an excellent tree choice because it is considered non-toxic for humans, dogs and cats.
