Description

Japanese sago palm in not a true palm, but a cycad, related to conifers. Very slow growing with thick-stems. A tropical plant with arching, feathery leaves that have narrow, glossy, dark green leaflets, and unisexual, egg-shaped, woolly, brown inflorescences (seldom seen on plants in containers). Indoor specimen need full light (but no hot sun), a gritty potting medium with charcoal added, and slow release fertilizer, moderate humidity, moderate watering during the growing season, less watering and humidity during winter.
