Hens and chicks. House-leek. Dense, mat-forming, evergreen, succulent perennial plant producing rosettes of thick, pointed leaves, that often have bristly margins, and may be covered in a web-like fashion with white hairs. Flat, branching, terminal clusters of star-shaped, white, yellow, red, or purple flowers appear on upright stems. Individual rosettes shrivel after flowering, but are replaced by immediately adjacent younger rosettes.
